Bruce Willis (born March 19, 1955) is an American retired actor, producer, and musician. He achieved fame with his leading role in the comedy-drama series Moonlighting (1985–1989) and has appeared in over a hundred films. Willis gained recognition as an action hero for portraying John McClane in the Die Hard franchise (1988–2013).
Born in Idar-Oberstein, West Germany, Willis' family relocated to Carneys Point, New Jersey, where he grew up. He overcame a stutter that plagued him during his childhood through drama classes, eventually leading him to pursue acting as a career. After graduating from Penns Grove High School in 1973, he attended Montclair State University before dropping out to pursue acting full-time.
