Ben Kingsley Short biography
Sir Ben Kingsley is an acclaimed English actor renowned for his versatile performances. He began his acting career with the Royal Shakespeare Company in 1967 and made his film debut in 1972. Kingsley achieved international recognition and an Academy Award for Best Actor for his portrayal of Mahatma Gandhi in the 1982 film "Gandhi." His extensive filmography includes critically acclaimed roles in "Schindler's List," "Sexy Beast," "House of Sand and Fog," and "Shutter Island." Knighted in 2002 for his contributions to the arts, Kingsley continues to act in a wide range of film and television productions. He was born Krishna Pandit Bhanji in Snainton, Yorkshire, to a mother of English descent and a father of Gujarati Indian descent.
