Stana Katic Short biography
Stana Katic is a Canadian actress and producer. She is widely recognized for her roles as Detective Kate Beckett on the American mystery drama 'Castle' (2009-2016) and FBI agent Emily Byrne on the thriller 'Absentia' (2017-2020). Born on April 26, 1978, in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, to Croatian parents, her family later moved to Aurora, Illinois. She is an alumna of West Aurora High School, the University of Toronto's Trinity College, and the Theatre School at DePaul University. Katic began her film career in 1999 with 'Acid Freaks' and has since appeared in notable films such as 'Quantum of Solace' (2008) and 'The Possession of Hannah Grace' (2018), and has lent her voice to Wonder Woman in several DC animated features. Her television debut was in 2004 on 'The Handler', followed by roles in 'Alias', 'ER', and '24'. In 2008, Katic founded her own film production company, Sine Timore Productions, Inc. Actively involved in philanthropy, she supports environmental causes, children's education, and gay rights, and established The Alternative Travel Project in 2010. She married Australian business efficiency consultant Kris Brkljac on April 25, 2015, and they welcomed their first child in the winter of 2021. Katic currently resides in Los Angeles, where she practices yoga, gardening, and herbalism.
