Beyoncé Short biography
Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter was born on September 4, 1981, in Houston, Texas. She is the eldest daughter of Celestine "Tina" Knowles, a hairdresser and salon owner, and Mathew Knowles, a Xerox sales manager. Beyoncé's parents divorced when she was five years old. Beyoncé has one younger sister, Solange Knowles, who is also a singer and songwriter.
Beyoncé grew up in Houston, Texas, and attended Parker Elementary School, Elsik High School, and Kinder High School for the Performing and Visual Arts. She began performing in various singing and dancing competitions as a child. She was also a member of the dance group Girls Tyme.
In 1997, Beyoncé joined the all-girl singing group Destiny's Child. The group went on to become one of the best-selling girl groups of all time. They released four studio albums and won two Grammy Awards. They disbanded in 2005.
Beyoncé began dating Jay-Z, a rapper and entrepreneur, in 2001. They married in 2008 and have three children together: Blue Ivy Carter (born 2012), Rumi Carter (born 2017), and Sir Carter (born 2017).
