Sarah Anne Akers (née Jones; born August 27, 1978), known professionally as Suranne Jones, is an English actress and producer. Born in Chadderton, Greater Manchester, she began acting professionally at age 16. Upon joining the trade union Equity, she adopted the stage name "Suranne Jones." She rose to prominence in British television with a long-running role on the soap opera Coronation Street before transitioning to critically acclaimed dramatic roles.
