David Tennant Short biography
David Tennant (born David John McDonald on April 18, 1971) is a Scottish actor. Raised in Paisley, Scotland, his father was a minister of the Church of Scotland. Inspired by the television series Doctor Who, he decided he wanted to be an actor at the age of three. When he joined the actors' union Equity, he changed his surname to "Tennant" after the Pet Shop Boys' lead singer, Neil Tennant, as there was already a David McDonald on the books.
