Emmy Rossum Short biography
Emmy Rossum, born Emmanuelle Grey Rossum on September 12, 1986, in Brooklyn, New York, is an American actress, singer-songwriter, and director. Her artistic journey began early with the Metropolitan Opera Children's Chorus at age seven. She transitioned to acting, gaining recognition in films like "Songcatcher" and "Mystic River." Rossum achieved widespread fame for her roles in "The Day After Tomorrow" and, notably, as Christine Daaé in "The Phantom of the Opera," which earned her a Golden Globe nomination. From 2011 to 2019, she starred as Fiona Gallagher in the critically acclaimed series "Shameless," also directing several episodes. A talented vocalist, she released two albums, "Inside Out" and "Sentimental Journey." Rossum is married to writer/director Sam Esmail and is also known for her activism.
