Matthew Macfadyen Short biography
David Matthew Macfadyen was born on October 17, 1974, in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, England. He is a British actor renowned for his work on both stage and screen. His mother, Meinir, was a drama teacher and former actress, while his father, Martin Macfadyen, worked as an oil engineer. Due to his father's career, Macfadyen grew up in various places, including Jakarta, Indonesia, as well as parts of England and Scotland. He attended Oakham School in Rutland before being accepted into the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) at age 17, where he studied from 1992 to 1995. After leaving RADA, he gained early recognition for his work with the stage company Cheek by Jowl. Since November 2004, Macfadyen has been married to his former Spooks co-star, actress Keeley Hawes. They have two children together, and he is also a stepfather to Hawes's son from a previous marriage.
