Sally Kirkland was an American actress, spiritual mentor, yoga instructor, and advocate, known for her prolific career spanning over six decades and including more than 250 film and television credits. Born in New York City in 1941, she trained at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and the Actors Studio. She gained significant acclaim for her role in the 1987 film "Anna," which earned her a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress and an Academy Award nomination. Kirkland was also a notable figure in Andy Warhol's Factory avant-garde art scene in her early career, known for her fearless and often provocative performances. Despite her artistic success, she faced serious financial and health challenges later in life, passing away on November 11, 2025, at the age of 84.
