Stephen Lang Short biography
Stephen Lang (born July 11, 1952) is a veteran American actor and playwright. Born in New York City, he is the son of Theresa Volmar and the prominent entrepreneur and philanthropist Eugene Lang. He attended public schools in Queens before graduating from the George School, a Quaker boarding school in Pennsylvania, and later Swarthmore College in 1973 with a degree in English Literature. Lang was raised under Jewish traditions; his father was Jewish (of Hungarian and Russian descent) and his mother was Catholic (of German and Irish descent).
He has been married to costume designer and teacher Kristina Watson since 1980, and the couple has four children: Noah, Grace, Dan, and Lucy. Outside of his acting work, he has served as the co-artistic director of the Actors Studio from 2004 to 2006 and holds honorary degrees from Swarthmore College and Jacksonville University.
