Tom Cruise was born Thomas Cruise Mapother IV in Syracuse, New York, on July 3, 1962. He is the son of Thomas Cruise Mapother III, an electrical engineer, and Mary Lee Pfeiffer, a teacher. Cruise has three sisters: Lee Anne, Marian, and Cass.
Cruise's family moved frequently when he was a child. He lived in Canada, England, and several different cities in the United States. Cruise was diagnosed with dyslexia at the age of seven. He struggled in school and often skipped classes.
